Balsam Peru, also known as “Peru balsam,” is a natural resin obtained from the trunk of the Myroxylon pereirae tree, which is primarily found in Central and South America, particularly El Salvador and Peru (hence the name). The resin is extracted by making incisions in the tree’s bark, allowing the aromatic liquid to flow out and then harden into a reddish-brown resin.
As a fragrance ingredient, Balsam Peru has a warm, rich, and sweet scent with vanilla and cinnamon-like notes, along with a hint of smokiness. Its aroma is often described as cozy, comforting, and slightly spicy.

Coriander essential oil is sourced from the seeds of an aromatic annual herb that grows up to three feet high—the same plant we get Cilantro essential oil from. Like Lavender essential oil, Coriander oil has a high linalool content, which promotes a clear complexion when applied to the skin. Zanthoxylum alatum—commonly known as winged prickly ash or Indian prickly ash—is a species of flowering plant in the Rutaceae family. It’s native to regions of Asia, particularly India, Nepal, and China. Parts of the plant have been used in traditional wellness practices across Asia for their beneficial properties.
The essential oil obtained from Zanthoxylum alatum is characterized by its compelling aroma, often described as citrusy, spicy, and somewhat woody. This essential oil is known for its uplifting aroma and effective topical applications.
Green Patchouli essential oil comes from the Pogostemon cablin plant, a fragrant and bushy herb in the mint family that thrives in tropical climates. Patchouli has a rich history, dating back centuries in India and China, where it was used to scent fabrics and as part of traditional wellness practices for skin. Traders often wrapped silk and textiles with patchouli leaves to preserve them during long journeys, which is one reason the scent became associated with luxury.
Green Patchouli oil is sometimes known as the “green” version of patchouli oil, and tends to be fresher, lighter, and more herbaceous compared to the deeper, earthier aroma of aged Patchouli essential oil.
Osmanthus—also referred known as “sweet olive”—is an evergreen Asian shrub from the same family as jasmine. Osmanthus has been cultivated in China for over 2,000 years. Its flowers are known for their calming, apricot-like scent, which is why they’re frequently used in perfuming sachets and tea additives.
Osmanthus essential oil is rich in β-Ionone, which belongs to a group of compounds often referred to as rose ketones because of their presence in a variety of floral oils (especially Rose essential oil).
Fenugreek essential oil comes from the seeds of Trigonella foenum-graecum, a small annual herb. Fenugreek has been used for thousands of years, with records dating back to ancient Egypt, where it was employed in embalming, traditional wellness practices, and even beauty treatments.
Fenugreek oil is a strongly aromatic essential oil with a warm, nutty, and slightly sweet scent.
Steam-distilled Cistus essential oil comes from the leaves and branches of the Cistus shrub. These shrubs are found in rocky or dry soils throughout the Mediterranean region. They can live over two years and are typically covered in evergreen leaves and five-petaled flowers that are white, purple, or dark pink.
Cistus oil provides a warm and cozy aroma to any blend.
Aromatic Use: Add five to 10 drops to the diffuser of your choice.
Topical Use: Dilute one drop of essential oil to 10 drops of carrier oil.
