Most of the lemons sourced for Lemon essential oil are from the island of Sicily. Lemons in Italy can grow to be the size of softballs, thriving in the warm climate and fertile soil.

Once called a forbidden fruit and one of the seven wonders of Barbados, grapefruit was first documented in 1750 by Welsh Reverend Griffith Hughes. The name grapefruit comes from the grape-like cluster in which the fruit grows.

Known for its energizing and invigorating aroma, Grapefruit essential oil creates an uplifting environment when diffused or applied topically. Grapefruit oil is also renowned for its cleansing and purifying properties and is frequently used in skincare for its ability to promote clear, healthy-looking skin.

Bergamot essential oil is unique among citrus oils because it can create both an uplifting and calming environment.

Bergamot is the most delicate citrus plant, requiring a special climate and soil to thrive. Italians have used bergamot oil for years to soothe and rejuvenate the skin.

Cold-pressed from the peels of fresh limes, Lime essential oil is refreshing and energizing in both aroma and taste. Limes are frequently used in entrées and beverages for their fresh citrus flavor. The citrus oil can be diffused to freshen the air.

Lime essential oil is also an effective surface cleaner. Lime oil is often used in facial and body cleansers for its purifying properties and uplifting scent.

Red Mandarin essential oil—also known as tangor and temple orange—comes from mature mandarin fruit, while Green Mandarin essential oil comes from the unripe fruit of the same tree. Red Mandarin oil is sourced from Brazil.

Red Mandarin contains 65–75% limonene—a chemical component found in most citrus oils—which accounts for the essential oil’s cleansing effects. Red Mandarin and Green Mandarin essential oils also include gamma-Terpinene (γ-Terpinene), which is found in Tea Tree and other cleansing oils.

Litsea essential oil has a refreshing and rejuvenating aroma. It comes from an evergreen tree or shrub commonly found throughout Japan, Taiwan, Southern China, and Southeast Asia. It’s also called may chang and mountain pepper.

Though Litsea essential oil isn’t a citrus oil, it has a distinctly citrus aroma. Sweet, fruity, and fresh, the scent of Litsea oil is often compared to lemons.

Tonka bean, known scientifically as Dipteryx odorata, is a highly esteemed ingredient native to Central America and northern South America.

The name tonka bean comes from the Galibi (Carib) language spoken by the natives of French Guiana. Related to the pea family, tonka beans are almond-shaped, featuring a black and wrinkled exterior with a smooth brown interior.

Commonly used in perfumery, tonka beans are celebrated for their rich aroma, reminiscent of vanilla, almonds, cinnamon, and cloves.

A perennial climbing vine that grows up to 75 feet long, Vanilla planifolia is a member of the orchid family, with yellow-white flowers that produce odorless bean pods. These blooms must be hand-pollinated, and it takes three to four years for the plant to begin producing beans. The beans are also harvested by hand before undergoing a time-consuming, labor-intensive process to fully develop their aroma and flavor.

Afterward, the beans are ground into small pieces and subjected to pressurized CO₂ in a two-step extraction process that captures the beans’ aromatic constituents in vanilla absolute.

Of the real vanilla available in the world, 80% comes from Madagascar, which has the perfect tropical climate for the spice to thrive. In Madagascar, thousands of people—mostly families—are employed in the vanilla supply chain. The harvest is a crucial source of employment for rural communities and an integral part of the local economy, contributing to the livelihoods of almost 80,000 farmers.
