Essential Oils and Tick Safety

Spring and summer are great seasons for gathering with friends and family to enjoy the warmer weather. However, there are many unwanted visitors during this time of year—such as ticks, mosquitos, and other pests—that can ruin all the fun if you’re not prepared. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you enjoy the outdoors.

  1. Shield Yourself
Essential oils can be a great defense against seasonal threats when used appropriately. doTERRA TerraShield® provides outdoor protection with a blend of oils including Ylang Ylang, Nootka Wood, Cedarwood, Catnip, Lemon Eucalyptus, and more. Apply TerraShield to the arms, legs, and neck or diffuse on your patio before going outside for your next summer barbeque.

  2. Practice Safe Tick Removal
While there are many natural options for bug repellents, it is still possible to get bitten, and when it comes to the safe removal of harmful parasites like ticks, doTERRA recommends removal through proven, conventional methods such as those found on the Center for Disease Control’s website

  3. Educate Yourself on Essential Oil Safety
doTERRA is committed to safe and responsible essential oil usage. Accordingly, we have a variety of educational tools available, including articles on safe essential oil use and videos addressing essential oil usage and essential oil dosage

However you use essential oils this season, remember to be safe and responsible.
