Essential Oils for Those Who Love the Outdoors

If you’re an outdoor enthusiast (and you know who you are), you’d rather be outside than inside. Whether you’re the hardcore hiker who gets out no matter the weather or you live for those brilliant summer skies, take essential oils along for the ride.

First on our important product list is TerraShield® Outdoor Blend. No matter the activity, everyone should have this essential oil blend during their outdoor adventures. It’s an effective, natural bug repellent without any nasty chemicals.

Aside from TerraShield, plenty of other “outdoor” essential oils and blends can be used and enjoyed.

Enjoying the Sun

Whether at the beach or campground, everyone needs to get outside and enjoy some time in the sun for the mood-boosting vitamin D benefits. Make sure you pack these skin-friendly essential oils to keep cool and refreshed.

  1. Peppermint: Apply directly to your skin with a roller bottle when you need to cool off. Or add a few drops to a spray bottle with water for an all-over cooldown. You can even drink it in your water for a refreshing boost.
  2. Lavender: Lavender serves as an excellent after-sun essential oil that soothes your skin when you’ve spent all day out in the waves.

Dealing with Bugs

No matter where you are, the creepy crawlies are there too. Avoid them with help from these effective essential oil products:

  1. Peppermint: Not only does Peppermint assist with the heat, but it also repels bugs naturally. Wear it on your skin or in diffuser jewelry.
  2. Lemongrass: Rub into your skin right before hitting the trail to naturally repel insects.
  3. Purify: Bug bites happen. If you can’t keep all the pests away, apply Purify directly to their bites to soothe irritation. Purify also helps combat environmental threats.

Offering Seasonal Support

Don’t let potential problems trap you indoors. Take these products with you for support in any season.

  1. TriEase® Softgels: If you don’t have these softgels on hand, you can blend Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint in a Veggie Cap.
  2. doTERRA Breathe®: Rub on your chest. Alternatively, place a few drops in your palms, cup your hands over your nose, and inhale the aroma to help minimize the effects of seasonal threats.
  3. Lemon: When taken in a Veggie Cap, Lemon can help support a healthy inflammatory response according to preclinical trials, but more confirming research is needed.*

Assisting with General Body Care

Take care of yourself out there and give your body the soothing assistance it needs with these last two essential oil products.

  1. Frankincense: Sometimes your body needs something extra to feel right at the end of a long day outside. Massage Frankincense into your hands and feet after hiking or biking for a warming, soothing sensation.
  2. Deep Blue®: This cooling and warming essential oil blend is perfect for tired feet or muscles so you can keep going. It’s also infused in the rich Deep Blue Rub topical cream—ideal for applying to larger areas.

This list isn’t exhaustive by any means, but it’s a good place to start. There are so many essential oils that can allow you to enjoy the great outdoors. What are some of your favorites?
