Today, we're excited to talk to Tricia Doebler about how you can ditch the toxic products in your life and make the switch to cleaner products.

doTERRA: Tricia, thank you so much for being here today.

Tricia Doebler: Hi! I'm so excited to be here.

doTERRA: This is a really fun topic that I'm excited to talk about with you. So, to start us off, can you kind of explain what a ditch and switch is?

Tricia: Yeah, sure. So, for me, "ditch and switch" is getting rid of products in my home that have ingredients in them, that I don't want for my family, and bringing in cleaner, natural solutions. We kind of live by the motto of "know better, do better" in our family. So, when we see a place that we can do better, we do it.

doTERRA: I love that and it makes it sound so simple. It's just doing better—getting rid of the old, bringing in something new.

Tricia: Exactly.

doTERRA: So, how can that concept of "ditch and switch" make reducing the toxins in your life and in your home feel more manageable?

Tricia: I don't think it has to be an "all or nothing." And I think that's where people get stuck. It's a journey that you can start at your own pace. Maybe it's room-by-room, maybe it's one switch a month, but you can make the switch and create easy habits around using them, and then you'll have lifelong habits.

doTERRA: I like that thinking of it as a journey, because I think on a few fronts, it feels hard to do all at once. There's just the knowing everything to ditch and what to switch it for. But also, there's a big financial investment, if you're throwing away things you're not done with or things like that. And so doing it one step at a time, it does feel a lot more manageable.

Tricia: Definitely. It definitely is.

doTERRA: What are some of your favorite doTERRA "ditch and switches" for cleaning?

Tricia: So I have to tell a quick story because cleaning was such an "Aha!" moment for me. It was early on in my doTERRA journey, about seven years ago, and I saw my toddler walk across the floor that I had just washed with chemical-filled cleaner. I thought I had put oils on her feet to be absorbed, and "Oh my goodness—" and now she's absorbing all these chemicals on her feet.

I threw out seven bottles of cleaner that day and replaced them all with the doTERRA On Guard® Concentrate Cleaner. That simplified my cleaning in a way that I never knew that it could. I also now love the Abode® line of cleaners that are super tough on grease and sticky stuff. But I also love the freedom my oils give me to DIY my own cleaning products. So, I make my own soft scrub for the tub and window glass cleaner with all my oils as well.

doTERRA: I love that and I love how you said that doTERRA On Guard Cleaner Concentrate—it got rid of seven things!

Tricia: I kid you not, I have the picture that pops up every year in my Facebook Memories of the bag—the garbage bag full of cleaning solutions that I threw out. And I was that person that my house didn't smell clean if it didn't smell like the pine smell, or the real lemon smell. And I love how clean and fresh-smelling my house is now with my oils.

doTERRA: Absolutely. So, switching gears a little bit, what about for around the home or in your personal care? What are some of your favorites there?

Tricia: Again, I have to stress that I love the freedom doTERRA gives us. If you're not into DIY, then you have amazing, ready-to-go, clean options for you. I'm obsessed with the doTERRA Shampoo Bars, the Facial Cleanser, and the Deodorant.

Those, for me are easy things I can buy every couple of months for me and my family that are super clean. But I also love making my own serums and soaps with my oils for my family. I love raising a young girl who isn't into the latest product craze because I'm teaching her the importance of cleaner products that we have with doTERRA.

doTERRA: I love that and the generational aspect. Like you said, I think we were all raised a certain way and some of us with fewer toxins than others, but it's a hard switch to make if you're making it for the first time.

But for your kids who are being raised with these low-toxic products and really natural products, how much better are they going to be able to make those decisions? And how much clearer are they going to be able to look at these different products and see them for what they are?

Tricia: Again, it goes back to "know better, do better," and I do know better now. And I want that for my kids.

doTERRA: Absolutely. So, Tricia, before we end today, what would you say your biggest advice is for people who are looking to start ditching and switching to something better.

Tricia: This seriously is my favorite aspect of doTERRA ditching and switching. It's one of my main focuses is when I help others. I just like to start by taking one product, find its equal, but better solution in doTERRA and start using it.

Cleaning was the biggest shift for me, but also look to apps or you can search online that you can look up the ingredients in certain products.

Maybe you're not aware. "Well, I've used this toothpaste forever." Maybe you're not aware of what's in it. Look up the ingredients that maybe you can't pronounce, and then see how you can do better with--like the doTERRA Toothpaste, for instance.

But doTERRA does have a solution for every single thing that you want to switch in your home, and I love that. And they're obviously a way better solution.

doTERRA: Yes, I totally agree. Trisha, thank you so much for sitting down with us today, talking a little bit about easy and simple ways to ditch the products that might not be helping us, and switch to those really natural, clean products.

Tricia: Thank you so much.
