Today, we're excited to talk to Kara Kading about how she supports her body every day.

doTERRA: Kara, thank you so much for being here with us today.

Kara Kading: Yeah, I'm so excited. I love talking about the doTERRA products and just the ways that they can support our health and wellness, so thank you.

doTERRA: Absolutely. Well, let's dive right in. I don't want to keep you waiting. Can you talk a little bit about why it's so important to make sure we're not only supporting our body on the inside, but also the outside?

Kara: Yeah, I think it's a really important balance. And I love to give an analogy to people, like when you think about either like a car or house, I mean, it's really everything from the inside out, right? So, you would never put water in your car. You fill it up with good gas, right? You do the good oil changes, you take care of your car, you do the washings.

It's the same way with your body. And a lot of times people are focusing so much on the outside that they're not really being conscientious of what they're putting on the inside. And so, to have that balance and realize that what we're putting in the inside is what's going to be fueling our body for support and growth and healthy development.

doTERRA: Absolutely. I think that's so key. You can't pay more attention to one and less the other. It kind of just has to be that balance.

Kara: Yeah, a little bit of both.

doTERRA: Absolutely. So, what then is maybe the role of movement in supporting our body?

Kara: Well, movement is key because, I mean, a lot of times, of course people think about movement—you're going to be strengthening your muscles, getting out, moving energy. But it does so much more for our body. I mean, just think about doing a crisp, brisk walk and how much better you feel mentally.

So, it's great for mental clarity, for energy, for focus, but it's also really good for things that people maybe didn't think about, like digestion. And so, I always recommend to people, you know, after you have a meal, don't just go sit on the couch or watch TV. Get the body moving and take the dogs for a walk. Or go for a walk around the block with a friend or something like that, to be able to really help with that key, with digestion.

And movement is something fun to do with other people too. So, having an accountability partner, someone that you're going to go meet for a workout and just like I said, it's a great stress reliever.

doTERRA: It's always incredible to me how the things that are good for our body kind of span a bunch of different aspects. It's never just, “Oh, it's good for this one thing.” It's this cascading effect that we are able to see.

Kara: Exactly. Yes. Yeah. And like I said, my days are always better when I come back from a walk. Usually every morning I'll take the dogs for a walk. And there's some mornings where it's like, "Oh, it's cold, it's dark. I don't know if I want to get out of bed." But as soon as those days that I do get out and move, I feel so much better. My day is just off to a good start.

doTERRA: Right. Well, I want to shift gears a little bit and dive into the products—kind of what everyone is here for.

Kara: Yes.

doTERRA: So how can we use the doTERRA supplements to make sure that we're providing our body with what it needs?

Kara: Well, the supplements are key. Anytime I teach a class or talk to people about really getting started and trying to find something natural for their health and wellness—especially the doTERRA Lifelong Vitality Pack—this is your foundation for your health and wellness.

And like I said, when you're using the analogy of a car or thinking about building a home, a brand new home, you have to have that firm foundation. We can't start putting windows in or putting a couch in place or the furniture, rugs, all those things, we have to have that foundation. And that's what Lifelong Vitality is.

So, I always recommend to people like, if you're going to get started anywhere, start with Lifelong Vitality, because this is the foundation where you have that balance of your 12 servings of your fruits and vegetables, your omega-3, 6 and 9 for your brain and your heart health. And then those powerful antioxidants to remove that oxidative stress, I think is just incredible.

So anytime I go to teach a class, my husband—actually Lifelong Vitality is his favorite product. And he always says to me, "Don't forget to talk about it. Don't save it for the end. Talk about it in the beginning." Because it's such a game changer.

So, starting off with something like that, getting that into your routine and getting comfortable with it, I always tell people, "Set that foundation," then working something in like the MetaPWR. The collagen is so powerful, and a lot of times when people hear collagen, they're thinking about just, you know, your skin, your healthy hair and nails. But our collagen, with the nine different types of collagen in there, is supporting all the systems in your body.

So, I love to help people incorporate those two, and get comfortable of having those two in their daily routine and then start to layer in the fun things like the essential oils and the other doTERRA products and things like that. But once that's set in your routine, you're going to feel amazing.

doTERRA: Absolutely. And I love that you use that analogy of the foundation. And so, once that foundation is built, kind of you have your inside taken care of, then we can kind of look to the outside.

What are the products that we're using to help support our skin and that barrier that we have on the outside of our body?

Kara: Right, right. So going from having that foundation. A lot of people, when you talk about skin, notice a huge difference when they're using Lifelong Vitality and the MetaPWR. Even our new PB Restore, I think is amazing of the changes and improvements that people have noticed.

But then layering in some fun things like my daughters especially, they're kind of like my real touch of my testers of what doTERRA products they love for their skin because they're both teenagers, so they're always wanting to know what's going to be good for their skin. And they love any kind of floral oil. The Rose roller is one of their favorites, and they love to use like a gua sha stone with that. And they're really good about incorporating that into their routines.

So, the floral oils are some of my favorites, uh, and really incorporating the healthy eating and good hydration. So, making sure that we're drinking plenty of water throughout the day. And I always recommend that it's going to be a lot easier to drink the amount of water that you need when you're adding some of the citrus oils.

So, some of my favorites—I mean Lemon is a no brainer. Super easy. MetaPWR—I love adding that to my water. But then even some fun ones like Green Mandarin or Lime, even Ginger or something like that. But that helps with the hydration, helps with the detoxification, all the good things.

doTERRA: Absolutely. And I love that you have a couple of little testers in your house to help.

Kara: I'm just like, "What are you guys using in here? What's going on?"

doTERRA: Yes. So, in addition to, you know, the movement we talked about in the hydration, the eating well, what are some of those other really important lifestyle changes that we can make to support our whole body?

Kara: Well, you know, this is a great time of year to be talking about this because we're kicking the year off right. Everyone's really focused on like, "What can I do to make some changes and what healthy habits can I incorporate into my routine?"

So I always recommend to, you know, start off small. Don't try to take on 10 different things and try to change up your routine. Really focus on that habit stacking so you're really nailing it down and getting one thing under control and changing that habit, and improving it and making it better and then layering on from there.

So, once we've got that foundation, especially with the Lifelong Vitality and the MetaPWR, and starting your day off right with that, then starting to kind of look and see what else you can do.

For me, especially after a workout, I mean, I just love our proteins. So, I always incorporate the Vanilla protein, which sometimes I don't always have time to make a smoothie or something like that. But I can just take a scoop and just mix it right into my yogurt. And I think that tastes amazing. So, being able to incorporate some of our other products like that, just starting off right in the morning, the Protein is great.

Some other things that I love just throughout the day, having any of the little beadlets with me. So, the doTERRA SuperMint Beadlets or the Peppermint Beadlets, I find help to naturally give me some good energy. And that has been a great habit that I have been able to incorporate where I'm not relying on caffeine throughout the day, or that middle-of-the-day funk where you feel like you want to maybe take a nap underneath your desk. I don't know, that's how I feel. And it's like, okay, I'm going to have a Peppermint Beaadlet, or doTERRA SuperMint Beadlet, something like that. And that really helps with the energy and focus.

Mito2Max is another great one, so if I know that I'm going to be having a long day, this is so great for energy and stamina. It doesn't feel like caffeine or over-energized or anything like that, but it just gives me that little extra endurance to make it through the day.

Oh gosh, how can we not live without doTERRA Deep Blue? This is probably one of my top products in our entire home. I have three children, my husband, and myself, and we're always fighting, especially over that Deep Blue Stick. We're always taking it out of someone's gym bag or if it's on my nightstand, someone's taking it and it feels so good at the end of the day to just work that into the bottoms of my feet. And it just helps me to relax, I feel much more restored and it's just a great way to unwind.

So, I think incorporating those things throughout the day.

When I first started with doTERRA, it was a mindset shift of really being much more in tune with your body. And I was afraid, like with my three kids, I was so focused on them all the time. And so, any talk of self-care, I was like, "I don't know, I don't have time for that. I don't want to be selfish. I need to focus on my kids."

But what I realized and what doTERRA really helped me to understand, is how important self-care is and how important it is to take care of ourselves. And when we do that, we're going to feel so much better and then we can do a better job of taking care of other people.

I've talked to so many of my customers that have said, "Gosh, Kara, I didn't realize how bad I really felt until I started to incorporate these things into my routine and how much better I feel. And when I look back on that, why was I living that way?"

So, when you can incorporate these into your daily routine and you start to feel those wins, it's so empowering.

doTERRA: Absolutely. I think so many people don't realize what their "normal" is and what it could mean.

Kara: What it could be. Right. I know, and anytime you're in a conversation with somebody—I was just on the plane on the way here, and a random stranger next to me starts talking about their aches and pains, even their digestive issues—and I think that people are struggling and looking for those natural solutions.

And that's one of my favorite things to talk about doTERRA, because we have something for everybody, right? No matter where your struggle is, or maybe that first big habit that you want to tackle, there's so many great options out there.

doTERRA: Absolutely. Before we end, Kara, do you have any other products that you really like to incorporate into your routines that you like to recommend to other people?

Kara: Oh, gosh. Well, like I said, the Protein is one of my favorites in the morning. I could not live without the collagen.

For me, the MetaPWR is something I look so forward to. And one of my favorite ways, I just make it into, you know, a small little, just four to five ounces of cold water, I add some ice and I do one drop of Lime in there. And I just love the way that tastes. For my husband and I, that's kind of like our evening mocktail and we just make something fun with it. And, like I said, adding that one drop of Lime and then we just enjoy it. And we just notice a huge difference with all the benefits of it.

doTERRA: Which is so incredible and such a unique thing, I think, when you come to taking these really natural products, is you see that steady increase in the benefits that you're receiving, the longer you keep making these good habit decisions.

Kara: Yes. Yes, definitely. I mean, my husband and I talk about that almost on the daily and we're like, can you believe, like how much better we feel now? We're getting older and we feel better now than we did 20 years ago. So, we're really thankful for doTERRA.

And like I said, it's so fun to explore the website and to see how everything is kind of broken down into different categories so that you can kind of start to explore and see, "Okay, I feel great about my digestion, now what else can I do? How can I explore?"
