Episode 120: Supporting Your Immune System Every Day Featuring Ashlee Jackson

doTERRA: Your immune system works hard every single day to protect your body from environmental threats. It's always looking after you, but how can you look after your immune system? Well, today we're going to talk about all of the ways you can support your immune system every day.

Today, we're excited to talk to Ashlee Jackson about supporting your immune system. Ashlee, thank you so much for joining us today.

Ashlee Jackson:​​​​​​​ Oh, you're welcome! It’s a pleasure. I love talking about oils, so this is perfect.

doTERRA: And this is a really big topic. So it's something that I think people want a lot of information about. So my first question is, how can I change or adjust my lifestyle to help support my immune system?

Ashlee: Well, the foundation, I believe, of everything with immune system is the things that you eat and the things that you put in and on your body. For my family in particular, I was very mindful about the products that we were using in our home, and that's kind of what brought me to using essential oils. So, you know, in terms of supporting your immune system, you just really have to be mindful that you're using the most natural products and using them safely, of course, reading labels of the products in your home, the food you eat, and making sure that you are getting the purest, most natural products in and on your body.

doTERRA: I think all of that is fantastic advice. And switching over toward a little bit of the more doTERRA related, what are the best essential oils to help me support my immune system?

Ashlee: Well, of course, On Guard is amazing. All things On Guard. The On Guard essential oil is great to use to support your immune system. It is something that we use in our home every day. So take that internally because it really does give you that support that you need. And it's great to have that continuous exposure to the essential oils so that you're already—it's kind of already like your body is armed to go out to battle, really. But you're already you already have that layer, if you're using essential oils and not waiting until something happens, but being proactive and including that as part of the daily habits to make sure that your immune system is being supported. So definitely the On Guard essential oil.

We love the On Guard Softgels. That's a great product to use to take one or two a day, especially if you are working or spending time outside of your home. So we love the On Guard Softgels, and of course, the essential oil.

And our other favorite, favorite product to use for immune support is the Lifelong Vitality Pack. For my husband and I, it has been the greatest support with, you know, just helping to support our energy level, helping to support our cells to operate in balance, and helping to support gut health. All of those things are going to be very essential to helping to support the immune system. So those are our two favorite products for support.

doTERRA: Now you mentioned a couple, but are there any other supplements you would recommend to help support your overall wellness?

Ashlee: Absolutely. The PB Assist, and not just for adults, but for the kids, PB Assist Junior. That's a probiotic that will support the state of your gut and helping to keep a level of healthy bacteria in the gut. So that's definitely one that we also take every day and that I recommend that everyone should take daily.

As well as TerraZyme, the digestive enzymes, because we want to make sure that we're getting all of the nutrients out of our food that are going to support our bodies. So the TerraZyme is amazing for helping to digest the food and, again, helping to keep maintain that healthy environment in the gut.

And then we love things like even Mito2Max, which helps to give us that energy support, just give us a little boost to help us to want to move more and go outside more and just add that movement piece to our lifestyle to help us to live just an overall healthier lifestyle.

So those are just a few of the additional supplements that we use and that I recommend that you use for immune support.

doTERRA: So you've given us so many incredible product recommendations. My final question for you is, what is your daily routine to work those in to help support your immune system?

Ashlee: Oh, my goodness, I use everything every day.

Begin with Balance and Motivate

So when we wake up in the morning, we start with—well, I start with Balance on the bottoms of my feet just to help me get grounded and give me that feeling like I can tackle the day. I can handle anything that comes my way.

I also like to use, and I didn't mention it, but I like to use Motivate because that really just helps to get me going in the morning. I'll use that on my kids to wake them up. It's a perfect oil.

Take Supplements in the Morning

And then when we come down for breakfast, we take our vitamins. Of course, I take the Lifelong Vitality Pack, just a half dose in the morning. And my kids also take the a2z vitamins for children and the PB Assist. I take my probiotic PB Assist as well.

Diffuse Your Favorite Oils Throughout the Day

Throughout the day, I always have oils with me. I'm a teacher, and so I love to diffuse in my classroom. Two of my favorite oils to diffuse in the classroom are Wild Orange and Peppermint. So those are all always going for—just to lighten the mood in the classroom.

And then when we get home in the afternoon, I am taking my second dose of Lifelong Vitality.

Use Essential Oils to Promote a Relaxing Environment

And in the evening, as we're preparing to wind down, we love to use Serenity and Wild Orange and Breathe in the diffuser to help us and just to support a peaceful environment in the home. Sleep is definitely a huge, huge part of immunity and immune support.

I was actually having a conversation with my daughter this afternoon. She was all out of whack this morning, and I did not know why. She's 10 years old, and she was just in tears this morning. And she could not articulate what was wrong. But we pressed forward, and she made it to school. And I picked her up this afternoon. She had a big smile on her face. So we talked about this morning, and she said, “Mommy, I was just really sleepy.” We had a rough night last night, like. We just did not get enough sleep. And what it boiled down to is that she was just really tired. And so it kind of had a domino effect on everything that happened this morning.

So we will be mindful of this to make sure that, you know, that we really wind down because sleep doesn't start when you get in the bed. It starts before you get in the bed. So starting the diffuser about an hour before bedtime is a great practice to set the mood for a restful night of sleep.

doTERRA: Well, I think that daily routine is incredibly helpful and definitely successful for you and your family. And I love that. Ashlee, thank you so much for talking with us today, for sharing your recommendations on how we can use these incredible products every single day.

Ashlee: Well, you're so welcome! It's been fun. Like I said, I love talking about essential oils and love sharing this lifestyle with other people because it's been so helpful for us.
