Malama

to care for

At doTERRA, the heart of our mission is how we care for partners, customers, communities, and the earth. In Hawaiian culture and language, there’s a word that encompasses this concept: malama.

Malama means to care for, tend, preserve, and protect. Honoring malama, doTERRA has partnered with the Kealakekua Mountain Reserve (KMR), home to the largest reforestation effort in Hawaii’s history. It’s also where we source Naio Wood and ‘Iliahi, which is Hawaiian for sandalwood.

To celebrate this Mother’s Day and highlight the special Co-Impact Sourcing® work done with KMR, we’ve created a new essential oil blend called Malama. Both essential oils—Naio Wood and ‘Iliahi (Hawaiian Sandalwood)—are included in the blend.

Like the breathtaking beauty and vibrant culture of the Hawaiian Islands, Malama Nurturing Blend is a sparkling combination of bright citrus, enchanting floral, and centering wood aromas. Delicious Wild Orange, warm Cedarwood, and soft Amyris are combined with fresh Coriander, zesty Lemongrass, minty Bucchu, and spicy Sichuan Pepper. Plus, Malama contains sweet Magnolia, floral Cananga, and resonant ‘Iliahi (Sandalwood) and Naio Wood. As all these essential oils come together, they create a vivacious, rich aroma.

Usage Tips:

  • Diffuse to create a bright, uplifting, and engaging atmosphere.
  • Inhale the energizing aroma as you consider a healthy perspective for yourself.
  • Use to refresh personal and work surroundings.
  • Blend with doTERRA Spa Hand & Body Lotion.
  • Put a couple drops on your wrists or diffuser jewelry.
  • Add to wool dryer balls to create a delightful aroma for your laundry

In April, Malama Nurturing Blend will be available for a limited time while supplies last. You can purchase a 15 mL bottle individually or buy it bundled with the exclusive Pilot® Max Diffuser.
