Very few people would list a hospital as their favorite place in the world. Hospitals are often associated with stress and uncertainty... Now imagine you’re a child who is struggling. Not only are you feeling unwell, but you’re in an unfamiliar environment surrounded by foreign sights, sounds, and smells. It would be an intimidating or even frightening experience, to say the least./p>
Now, picture you walk into a room where you’re greeted by a happy, bright mural and other warm touches designed to make the space welcoming. You’re still facing the unknown—still not feeling well—but in that moment, you find some comfort.
This illustrates the why behind a recently supported doTERRA Healing Hands project in Bulgaria. Working with an on-the-ground partner, we funded renovations of a children’s hospital ward near where doTERRA sources Lavender essential oil.
“This whole renovation of the pediatric department was needed because it’s made for the most important thing: our children,” said the hospital head manager, Georgy Zhelyazkov.
The last renovations occurred more than 20 years ago. Recent updates included fun, colorful murals that we hope will make the hospital experience more comfortable for the children and their families seeking medical care. Other updates included new beds and amenities, such as microwaves and refrigerators in each room, to make it easier for families while their children are receiving treatment.
Pediatric unit manager, Yovcho Yovev shared, “I’ve always known what a pediatric ward should look like, but I never imagined that the place I work would become that place. Thank you for that.”
