Jasmine flowers bloom before sunrise. To ensure the highest-quality aromatic compounds, it is essential to pick the flowers and extract their essence immediately after the plant blooms. Blossoms are carefully hand-harvested before dawn (usually around 2:30 a.m.) about six months after planting to prevent the sun’s heat from melting the flower’s wax and killing the blossom.
doTERRA Jasmine is sourced in Egypt from royal jasmine flower petals (Jasminum grandiflorum). Because of the fragility of the petals, it is difficult to distill Jasmine into an essential oil like other flowers. Instead, the essence of Jasmine oil is captured as a highly concentrated absolute. It takes 21,000 freshly picked petals to produce 5 mL of Jasmine absolute.
