Chocolate Easter Egg Nest Cakes with Essential Oils


During Easter, Chocolate is a necessity and it is also the perfect excuse to get your chocolate fix! Chocolate Easter Egg Nest Cakes are a must-have in any British household and they will soon become a firm favourite with your kids. They are super simple and will make a delectable treat for the whole family to enjoy.


Chocolate Easter Egg Nest Cakes with Essential Oils

Ingredients:

225g 70% dark chocolate, broken into pieces
2 tbsp golden syrup or honey
50g butter
75g cornflakes
24 mini chocolate eggs
1–2 drops of your favourite essential oil to bake with

Cupcake paper cases
 

Instructions:

  1. Separate 12 cupcake paper cases.
  2. On the stove, heat a saucepan of water until it is gently simmering.
  3. Place a bowl inside the saucepan and melt the chocolate, golden syrup and butter. Stir the mixture until smooth.
  4. Remove the bowl from the heat. Let it cool down for a couple of minutes and then add a few drops of your favourite baking essential oils. Why not try Peppermint, Spearmint, Wild Orange, Tangerine or even Lavender? Get creative and always remember to taste the mix with a clean spoon after each drop of essential oil. You don’t want the flavour to become too overpowering.
  5. Gently stir in the cornflakes until all of the cereal is coated with chocolate.
  6. Divide the mixture between the paper cases.
  7. Press 2 chocolate eggs into the centre of each nest. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour, or until the chocolate has set.

Tips:

Puffed rice cereals can be used instead of the cornflakes.
