Imagine you are about to welcome your first child into the world. This is a moment you’ve planned for and dreamed of for years, and now the day is finally here. You’ve finalized everything about the delivery, coordinating with medical providers or planning a home birth with loved ones nearby. You have everything you need on hand or within a short distance of your home if anything goes wrong. You’re ready.
But for many mothers around the world, this level of care and preparation simply isn’t available. In countless communities, access to reliable maternal healthcare is limited by distance, cost, and the lack of adequately equipped facilities. As a result, childbirth—which should be one of life’s most joyful moments—can become a time of fear and uncertainty.
When the need for better maternal healthcare was identified in Lunga Lunga, Kenya by an on-the-ground partner, the doTERRA Japan market stepped in to help fund improvements to an under-equipped healthcare facility in the region. Through their donation, the facility added a dedicated delivery room and washroom, a postpartum observation room, a sterilization area, and other needed improvements. These improvements mean safe births and healthier outcomes for both mothers and babies.

The upgraded facility will serve more than 5,000 people in the region, many of whom are smallholder farmers who cultivate plants like Lemon Eucalyptus and Tea Tree for doTERRA essential oils.
