Why is testing being offered at convention?
Your wellbeing is our priority. In response to rising case levels associated with the Delta variant we wanted to take an extra precautionary step to ensure you can fully enjoy what we believe will be a life-enhancing experience for all attendees.
Is a negative result necessary to enter the convention?
No, proof of a negative test result is not necessary for entrance. However, we recommend you take advantage of this voluntary test for COVID-19 to help decrease the spread of COVID-19. Testing has been an excellent method of decreasing transmission of COVID-19. We trust in the good judgment of convention-goers to take the necessary steps to avoid creating a health risk for others.
One unique aspect of the Delta variant is that COVID-positive individuals can spread the virus efficiently regardless of their immune status. Voluntary testing gives all convention-goers an added measure of confidence that their presence will not contribute to the spread of COVID-19.
Do I have to disclose my identity?
The COVID test we are providing requires no registration and is self-administered. No personal information is collected. Only you will know the results of your test.
Our priority is your wellbeing and empowering you to make informed decisions about your own health and protecting the health of others.
What type of COVID test is being offered?
We are providing a rapid diagnostic test for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 antigen. This self-administered test, when used as directed, is an effective screen for detecting COVID-19 infection whether you have symptoms or not. Instructions for use will be provided with each test kit.
How is the nasal swab sterilized?
The nasal swab is the only part of the COVID test kit that touches the body. It is used by inserting into the front portion of each nostril, less than one inch deep, and rotating several times against the nasal wall. The swab is then placed into a collection device with a stabilizing solution. The nasal swabs and their packaging are completely sterile and safe when used as directed, and do not introduce any foreign substance into the body.
What if the test shows positive for COVID infection?
If your self-administered test reveals a positive result, as further explained below, a second test will be available to confirm diagnosis. A medical consultation will also be available to convention-goers if the second test is confirmed as positive. Individuals with questions may call 801-356-5832. Prime Meridian Clinic staff will be available to provide assistance.
You may have an active COVID-19 infection, even if you are not experiencing any symptoms. This is particularly true of the Delta variant for individuals who have naturally acquired immunity or who have been vaccinated. Based on our method of testing, there is also a very low occurrence of false-positive results.
For those who have an initial positive test, we recommend that you visit with our Prime Meridian healthcare providers who will administer the second, confirmatory test on an anonymous basis in room 251 of the Salt Palace Convention Center. Masks will be required in the testing room.
What if I mess up administering the test?
Replacement tests will be made available at no charge (details to follow).
What should I do if I am confirmed positive?
We recommend that individuals with two confirmed positive tests wear a mask and seek medical consultation either with trained staff on-site at the convention, or with their primary medical provider.
We encourage those who have two positive tests to enjoy our convention virtually.
When and where will I pick up my test?
COVID-19 testing will be available when you pick up your registration swag before the event.
What additional precautions are you taking?
We have purposely booked out both the Vivint Arena and the Salt Palace Convention Center, two large scale venues, to allow enough space for attendees to safely engage with one another.
We have three sections set aside for social distancing in Vivint Arena.
All in-person attendees have access to the virtual event at any time.
Our streamlined agenda should give more hours for fewer people (1/3 our usual attendance) in the public spaces.
We've also made it easy to shop for kits and marketplace items online, that can ship directly to someone's home if they choose.
Masks will be available for those who would like them.
