Five Ways to Reuse Essential Oil Bottles

You’ve just used the last few drops of your favourite essential oil and now you’re left with an empty bottle… or are you? Although it’s no longer filled with a precious essential oil, one empty amber bottle has tremendous potential. Here’s some of our top ideas for how to repurpose your empty amber essential oil bottles into fun and functional creations.

Your Own Unique Blend

Repurpose your empty essential oil bottles by creating your own personal unique aromas and blends.

Supplies:
1-2 clean amber bottles, your favourite essential oils, Fractionated Coconut Oil (if desired)

Instructions:
  1. Pick a few essential oils that blend well together and add them to an empty amber bottle. We recommend choosing aromas in the same fragrance category and pairing them with others that blend well together.
  2. Add orifice back to the bottle and screw on cap and shake well. Add Fractionated Coconut Oil if desired for dilution.

Twinkle Lights

Take your decorative lights up a notch by adorning them with upcycled amber essential oil bottles.

Supplies:
Several clean 5 or 15 mL amber bottles, sharp kitchen knife, cutting board, twinkle light strand

Instructions:
  1. Remove the bottle orifice and place face-down on cutting board. Insert the tip of the knife into the center hole of the orifice and slice down outward toward one edge (the result should be a “C” shape).
  2. Insert a cluster of lights from the strand into the bottle. Slip the orifice onto the wires entering and exiting the bottle, passing them through the center of the orifice using the slice you cut.
  3. Push until the orifice is fully reinserted. Repeat for the whole string of lights, leaving at least one bulb in between bottles.

*Safety Tip: Use the orifice remover to hold the orifice in place and keep your fingers clear of the knife’s edge.
