Reusable Cleansing Wipes with Clementine

Dust accumulation is sometimes a total mystery! The amount of dust that can pop up around the house is crazy, and feather dusters and dry sheets can simply move the dust from one place to another. So, we like to do things a little differently. Dust wipes are a significant help because they trap the dust in the cloth and can even help cleanse home surfaces while they’re at it. Better yet, you can make reusable wipes at home that are easy, naturally sourced, and environmentally friendly!

Our version of DIY dust wipes uses Clementine and Lemon essential oils for their high limonene content, making them particularly helpful for cleansing surfaces. As citruses, they are also good for polishing wood furniture and removing thick or slightly greasy dust (think kitchen!). Plus, citruses just smell great. If you’re in the mood to give the mix an extra-boost of cleaning power, add a few drops of On Guard® and get busting that dust!

SUPPLIES

  • 2 cups distilled water
  • 10 drops Clementine oil
  • 10 drops Lemon oil
  • 5 drops On Guard oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 3-5 flour cloth towels
  • Airtight container

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cut flour cloth towels into fourths or quarters.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and add all cloths.
  3. Soak cloths in the liquid mixture (about an hour) until there are no dry spots.
  4. Ring out each cloth until it is damp and no more solution comes out.
  5. Tightly roll up the cloths and store them together in an air-tight container.

If cloths happen to dry out before you use them, dampen with water before use. To reuse, simply wash used cloths and re-apply ingredients!
