Essential Oil Drain Cleaner

When kitchen odors abound, it pays to have a game plan. Clear the sink of dishes, toss spoiled food from the fridge, take out the garbage bag, no problem! But sometimes those unwanted kitchen smells hide deep and out of sight, and it’s up to the freshest, most naturally sourced solutions to save the day.

Smelly kitchen drains are a thing of the past with this do it yourself drain cleaner using essential oils. We picked two of our freshest, odor-fighting aromas for this recipe, Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil and Purify essential oil blend.

Supplies

• ¼ cup baking soda
• ¼ cup white vinegar
• 3 drops Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil
• 2 drops Purify essential oil

Instructions

1. Add the essential oil drops down the drain.
2. Funnel the baking soda into the drain following the essential oils, and then pour in the vinegar.
3. Allow to fizz and sit for 15 minutes, then pour a generous amount of hot water to rinse the solution down the drain.
4. Rinse the drain once more with cold water, and enjoy fresh-smelling drains!
5. Repeat once a week, or as needed.

Caution: Never use bleach products at the same time as vinegar and baking soda to clean kitchen or bathroom spaces.
