Essential oils have a long history of use in supporting oral health. Cinnamon, Clove, and other oils help cleanse the mouth and freshen breath.
When essential oils are used in conjunction with regular dental care and daily brushing and flossing, oils can support a healthy-looking mouth and gums and freshen breath. There are many essential oils that can be very helpful in supporting oral health and dental hygiene. Many of these oils are included in the doTERRA On Guard® Protective Blend. The doTERRA On Guard line supports the health of mouth and teeth with Whitening Toothpaste and a natural Mouthwash.
doTERRA On Guard Natural Whitening Toothpaste is fluoride free and designed to cleanse your teeth, freshen your breath, and remove plaque. It gently polishes teeth with hydrated silica, which removes tooth stains and plaque without damaging tooth enamel. Cinnamon and Peppermint essential oils are added for increased benefits as well as their great taste.
Cinnamon Bark is spicy sweet and is effective at sweetening breath. Because Cinnamon Bark is a hot oil, it is important to dilute it before topical application.
Spearmint is slightly milder than Peppermint. Add a drop on top of your toothpaste and brush to freshen breath, or add a drop to water and swish around for a clean feeling mouth.
Add Peppermint to a glass of water for a refreshing mouthwash or use with toothpaste to clean your tongue.
Another way to take advantage of Peppermint is in the beadlet form. Peppermint Beadlets contain a small, invigorating burst of Peppermint essential oil contained in a small vegetable beadlet that dissolves in your mouth. They are perfect for on-the-go convenience!
Twice daily, use doTERRA On Guard Mouthwash after brushing and flossing. This natural, alcohol-free mouth rinse cleanses your mouth with essential oils, xylitol, botanical extracts, and purified water.
Add a drop of doTERRA On Guard Protective Blend to a toothbrush and use to gently brush tongue for fresh, clean breath.
Clove helps clean teeth and gums. Add one drop to toothbrush, apply toothpaste, and use to clean teeth and gums. For a soothing mouthwash, add one drop in a cup of water. Like Cinnamon Bark, Clove is a hot oil and should be diluted before topical application to minimize any skin sensitivity.
You can also cleanse your mouth with a homemade solution of salt and essential oils. Add 2 teaspoons of salt to 4 cups of warm water and mix well. Let cool, then add a couple drops of doTERRA On Guard, Cinnamon or Peppermint, and 2 drops of Clove.
