While developing MetaPWR Metabolic Blend, we conducted a preclinical study. Confirming clinical research is needed, but the results from the study are exciting!
doTERRA previously had a blend with the same essential oils as MetaPWR Metabolic Blend: Grapefruit, Lemon, Peppermint, Ginger, and Cinnamon Bark. That blend was Slim & Sassy®. Slim & Sassy did contain the same essential oils as MetaPWR, but at different ratios. We wanted to know if the ratios of these essential oils could be optimized for even better metabolic performance.
We took human adipocytes (adipose fat cells) and put them through a maturation process. As you expose a fat cell to different stimuli, the cell matures and accumulates fat droplets inside it. In this image, you’ll see little balls appearing inside each fat cell by day 14 of the maturation process.
On the left are immature cells that are mostly flat and empty of fat. And on the right are cells full of fat droplets, which are much larger.
We conducted a dose response study with different versions of MetaPWR Metabolic Blend and Slim & Sassy. This image shows the results we discovered from dosing the adipocytes with the original Slim & Sassy essential oil blend.
You can see it inhibited fat deposition within these human fat cells, even at low doses. We were excited but not too surprised to find Slim & Sassy did a fantastic job modulating fat deposition.
Next are our results from dosing the cells with a different formulation (or ratio) of the five essential oils. You can see this version didn’t perform as well as Slim & Sassy when it came to inhibiting fat deposition. It still had an effect, but the results weren’t as effective.
Now we have the results from dosing the cells with the current MetaPWR formulation. This blend and ratio of essential oils demonstrated the most effective results. We were amazed to learn the desired results were significantly enhanced with the optimized ratio. You can see how much less mature the fat cells are on day 14 with the new essential oil blend compared to the control.*
This bar graph shows the three tests just described side by side. We tested different strengths, ratios, and blends until we arrived at the formulation now known as MetaPWR. It’s the most powerful version, and that’s why it became the official formulation.
