The peppermint plant is a hybrid of water mint and spearmint and was first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753. A high menthol content—like that found in the doTERRA Peppermint essential oil—distinguishes the best quality Peppermint oil from other products. The sharp, sweet scent of Peppermint essential oil can create an exhilarating, stimulating environment during physical activity.
The cool, subtly sweet aroma of Japanese Peppermint essential oil can create a fresh, stimulating environment. Both Peppermint and Japanese Peppermint essential oils come from the same Mentha genus, but they’re different species. Japanese Peppermint has a higher concentration of menthol.
Comes from a flowering perennial herb with violet flowers and heart-shaped leaves. Like Lavender, the major chemical constituents of Bergamot Mint are linalool and linalyl acetate.
Spearmint is a perennial plant that grows 11–40 inches tall and flourishes in temperate climates. It’s widely used in gums, candies, and dental products for its minty taste and promotion of fresh breath.

SuperMint Essential Oil Blend
Learn how doTERRA sources four different mint plants to create SuperMint Mentha Blend. SuperMint is a new proprietary blend that combines Peppermint, Japanese Mint, Bergamot Mint, and Spearmint essential oils. Its sharp, minty aroma is softened by sweet, herbal undertones.
Aromatic use: Add three to four drops to the diffuser of your choice.
