doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation Australia and New Zealand donates $50,000 to Eat Up Australia.

In June 2020, doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation Australia and New Zealand (dHHFANZ) announced a $50,000 donation to Eat Up Australia in conjunction with Healing Hands Foundation global 10 year anniversary celebrations.

The money will be used in the Brisbane area to help Eat Up provide 60,000 lunches to needy children in 100 schools, and over 1500 emergency family boxes to those households that are really doing it tough.

“dHHFANZ’s support is an enormous boost to our efforts to feed hungry kids” said Lyndon Galea, who founded the not-for-profit organisation back in 2013 after reading in a local newspaper about school children in his hometown going home hungry. “As a response to the Covid-19 pandemic dHHFANZ will also allow us to deliver Emergency Food Boxes to the families of hungry kids too.”

Food insecurity is a pervasive problem in Australian schools, with Foodbank reporting 1 in 8 children arrive at school hungry and without any lunch from home. Eat Up’s mission is to feed hungry children resonated strongly with dHHFANZ.

“Eat Up have a simple and scalable program to feed children in school who would otherwise go without” said dHHFANZ Coordinator Patrick O’Callaghan, “and this is will enable those children affected to focus on their education.”

Eat Up delivers over 10,000 free lunches every week of term to 423 schools across NSW, Victoria and Queensland. For information on how you can, visit their website: https://eatup.org.au.
