doTERRA Sponsors STEM Education in Utah

 January 30, 2014

In May of 2013, dōTERRA® International, LLC, partnered up with IM Flash, a Utah County based flash memory manufacturer, to co-sponsor the Alpine School District’s Math Programs.

The Alpine School District Math Program includes after school math programs, peer-to-peer tutoring, and math competitions with other schools in the district. The programs are made possible through the STEM Action Center and focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) instruction in schools to develop Utah’s workforce of the future. There are many STEM jobs here in Utah, but there are not enough people in Utah to fill them. The STEM Action Center serves the community by coordinating STEM-related activities across the state in order to prepare future generations for these opportunities.

dōTERRA was recently invited to join the Utah STEM Education Investors Coalition. The coalition consists of businesses in Utah who are interested in supporting STEM education initiatives in the Utah education system. The coalition has met together each month for the last few months to discuss how to promote and move forward efforts for better science, technology, engineering, and math skills in schools throughout Utah. One way they are promoting this is by creating a media/branding and awareness campaign. Collectively this group of businesses contributed over $2.5 million to make this campaign a reality.

On January 30, 2014, a launch event was held for the media campaign at the Neil Armstrong Academy in Murray, Utah. Business leaders from the Utah STEM Education Investors Coalition, including dōTERRA, were in attendance as well as Utah Governor Gary Herbert and other government officials, media representatives, and elementary aged students. The campaign consists of TV and radio spots and will continue throughout the year (videos of the commercials that will be running on television can be found here: http://stem.utah.gov/).

dōTERRA is grateful to be involved with this great cause to help education in the state of Utah and looks forward to being an ongoing supporter of these efforts.
