dōTERRA Donates to Susan G. Komen Foundation Breast Cancer Gala

October 20, 2015

Community members gather to raise money for breast cancer research at Susan G. Komen Gala.

The Susan G. Komen Utah Foundation held the third annual Pink Friday Gala on October 9, 2015 to pay tribute to those affected by breast cancer and raise money for cancer research. doTERRA International provided a product donation for the gala’s silent auction, to help benefit the Utah chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Known for the popular Race for the Cure 5K, the Susan G. Komen Foundation aims to create a world without breast cancer, through generous donations that fund education and research efforts. The Utah Race for the Cure is held every May. It is a 5K race that raises funds for breast cancer research and programs, recognizes breast cancer survivors, and honors those who have lost their lives to the disease.

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer, and is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, following lung cancer. Experts estimate that there will be about 40,290 deaths from breast cancer by the end of 2015.1

By holding events like Race for the Cure and the Pink Friday Gala, the Komen Foundation raises funds to help local communities with research projects and education programs. Seventy-five percent of donations made to the Utah affiliate of the foundation stay within the state to fund screening, treatment, and education programs to help women in local Utah communities. The remaining donations are allocated to the national foundation for breast cancer research projects.

The 2015 gala honored cancer survivors and their families, as the community came together to raise money for a worthy cause. Thanks to donations from doTERRA and other companies, the silent auction helped procure funds for local research and breast cancer education in Utah. To see how you can help the Susan G.
