All the works of My hands are crowned with mercy.’” - Diary of St. Faustina In December of 1995, I was diagnosed with a debilitating seizure disorder. Just prior to my diagnosis, I was given the opportunity to embark on a world tour (benefitting AIDS research) as a background vocalist for the band I was singing with at the time. My dreams of beginning my career in music were destroyed when literally out of the blue I began experiencing complex partial seizures and was told I would never be a candidate for seizure surgery if I didn't want to lose my voice & continue singing. Being a singer/musician, that claim was a death sentence to the core of my artistic being. And as a music minister at my church, the mere thought of not being able to praise God with my voice & sing of His great mercies... Such a life would be unimaginable. Needless to say, my entire life - with all of its hopes & dreams - was turned upside down; and for almost the next 20 years, I remained captive to a lie. But after 20 years of suffering from upwards of 5-10 seizures per day...and the countless falls down flights of stairs, burns, bruises and ER visits I experienced as a result of those seizures (all endured by His sufficient grace & abundant mercy)...God sent me an angel of mercy who encouraged me to get confirmation as to whether or not seizure surgery could help deliver me from my physical misery. After years of countless prayers and cries out to the Lord for mercy, and after months of medical testing, I discovered that I was the perfect candidate for seizure surgery. And on June 29, 2015, the awesome neuro-surgery team at UCSF removed my entire right temporal lobe (wherein my seizure focus was located). After a successful surgery, I've remained SEIZURE-FREE ever since. HALLELUIA!!! And YES!!! I am still able to sing & praise Jesus with my voice! Glory to God for His mercy's depth! God's great mercies abound deeply & powerfully in the essential oils derived from the bark, flowers, fruits, leaves, seeds or roots of plants & trees He has gifted to the earth, and to you & I. Prior to surgery...and especially post-surgery...Frankincense, Lavender & Wild Orange essential oils helped to uplift my spirit, relieve my occasional sleeplessness, and were a reminder to me of God's great mercies! With every drop of oil in my diffuser, or a swipe of the oil over one of my pulse points...I was able to keep my focus on God’s mercy throughout my recovery, and just be grateful. Even through the weeping from the unbearable post-surgery pain and of the some 50+ staples holding my incision together...having Frankincense EO within reach would remind me of God's presence & mercy in my healing. The Bible tells us that the 3 wise men gifted Frankincense to the infant King Jesus.
