dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation™ Makes Donation to Slovakian Transition Home

A donation to Hope International Missions is providing hope to orphaned girls in Eastern Europe

doTERRA Wellness Advocate Heather Durham and her husband have had the desire to assist orphans in Eastern Europe since their experience as missionaries in the Ukraine as young adults. In December of 2015, Durham worked at Hope International Missions, a division of FEA Ministries Inc., to purchase a large house in a village in Slovakia.

The house will serve as an orphan transition home for teenage girls aging out of the orphanages with nowhere to go. Without the home, these girls will be homeless and vulnerable targets for human traffickers. They may also turn to drugs, crime, or prostitution to support themselves. The transition home will instead provide loving instruction and counseling to these girls, and will teach valuable life skills including cooking, gardening, job training, and budgeting.

With the support of her sponsor Julie Scott, Durham contacted the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation about a matching campaign to insulate the transition home and add new windows and doors to increase the home’s efficiency and save money on utilities. Extra money will be used to complete the furnishing of the home to provide space for more girls to live.
