The dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation™ Supports the Empowerment of Women in Africa

Women’s empowerment centers are providing women and children in Africa with skills and opportunities to support themselves and their families.

Global LifeVision’s mission is to empower women in Africa to help them out of poverty. So far, three women’s empowerment centers have been established: two in Kenya and one in Ghana. These centers teach women how to earn money to support their families and children. The center also improves effectiveness in communication by teaching literacy in language, arithmetic, and business; it also teaches skills including parenting, budgeting, marketing, and health.

Global LifeVision and Days for Girls provide the women in these clinics with reusable feminine hygiene kits. Global LifeVision also manages a rescue center for girls who have run away from female genital mutilation and fathers selling them off for early marriages.

With a donation from the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation, five sewing machines, an overlock machine, and a sweater-making machine will be installed in each facility. The donation will also help provide the initial fabrics, thread, scissors, cutting mats, die cuts, beads, soap ingredients, and other necessities to get the facility started. Once the program has been established, the women will be able to support themselves and their business by selling the goods they make at the empowerment center for a sustainable program.
