dōTERRA Donates to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Banquet in North Carolina
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation recently held the Sixth Annual STANDOUT Awards banquet in North Carolina, to honor local professionals for their success in business, community leadership, and philanthropic efforts. The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation provided a product donation for the banquet’s auction, the proceeds of which go to cystic fibrosis research, care, and education programs. The 20 honorees for the 2015 banquet were selected from among 70 nominations, and more than 200 North Carolina residents gathered to applaud their colleagues for their accomplishments.
Though the event recognized deserving business men and women, leaders, and philanthropists in the Charlotte community, it also brought people together for a good cause. Proceeds from the banquet auction will assist the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in their many efforts.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation raises funds to help improve the lives of those living with cystic fibrosis, through community outreach, personal care, and research endeavors. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that progressively limits one’s ability to breathe and causes frequent lung infections. There are about 70,000 people living with cystic fibrosis worldwide, and more than 75 percent of people are diagnosed by age two.1
Unfortunately, lung infections and limited breathing are only the beginning of inconvenience and discomfort for those with cystic fibrosis. Those who suffer with this disease often experience further complications including repeated episodes of pneumonia, sinus pain, gastrointestinal problems, and more. Because of complications like pneumonia, coughing, and the build-up of mucus that are associated with cystic fibrosis, and the seriousness of related lung infections, the disease is considered life-threatening.2
With thousands of people suffering from cystic fibrosis every day, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation aims to improve the lives of those living the disease. The foundation helps individuals find affordable care, specialized care in their area, and provides information to help with daily symptoms. Aside from personal care, the foundation also focuses heavily on research. Whether they are working on drug development, conducting clinical trials, or focusing on advocacy work, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s efforts are designed to eventually find a cure for the disease.
As the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation searches for a lifelong cure for the disease, fundraising events like the STANDOUT banquet, and donations like those from doTERRA, help provide the necessary funds to keep research efforts going.
