Product Donated To Children in Open Arms Village, Kenya, Africa

dōTERRA Wellness Advocate Nani Chesire hosted a product donation fundraiser for the nonprofit organization Open Arms International.

For many years, doTERRA Wellness Advocate Nani Chesire has sponsored a child in Kenya through the nonprofit organization Open Arms International. For this reason, Chesire has felt a special connection to the organization and the children of Kenya for the last several years.

Open Arms International was created to provide an opportunity for orphaned and abandoned children in developing countries to reach their full potential. The organization hopes to provide these underprivileged children the opportunity to become future leaders in government, business, medicine, and ministry. Open Arms International was founded by David and Rachel Gallagher after they led an expedition to Eldoret, Kenya in 2002.

Open Arms International has since developed the Open Arms Village, just outside of Eldoret, Kenya. The Village is currently home to over 120 children that have been orphaned, abandoned, or removed from their homes due to neglect or abuse. The village consists of nine children’s homes, each containing about 13 children and two house parents, as well as a “baby house” where 13 babies live and are cared for.

In 2016, Chesire participated in a product matching campaign with the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation™ to provide essential oils to the Open Arms Village in Kenya. Once the product donations were raised, Chesire presented a class to the Open Arms International staff at their office in Portland, Oregon, and delivered her product donations to them. These products will be distributed to the Open Arms Village by the staff during their next trip to Kenya.

Chesire says that the product donation by the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation was “used to fill the gaps of essential oils and doTERRA products needed for the families that were not donated by the Wellness Advocates” during her fundraising. Through this partnership, Chesire has been able to create an environment for the children of Open Arms Village with increased opportunity to become future leaders of their communities.
